BEAM2021 - Black Power Desk & Lesbian Pirates!
Join us at BEAM to catch BLACK POWER DESK and LESBIAN PIRATES! BLACK POWER DESK uses an original score of rap, grime, dancehall and soul to shine a light on the British Black Panther movement in the 60s and 70s. LESBIAN PIRATES! is a creatively integrated musical about Anne Bonny & Mary Read.

About the Event
BEAM is the UK’s biggest showcase of new musical theatre and BEAM2021 will be a hybrid, digital and live event, happening live at Hackney Empire and live streamed (or on demand) via stream.theatre. There will be pitches from 37 new musicals in development, some pre-filmed, with ideas ranging from daytime bhangra raves, to climate change told as a love story, from challenging the UK’s hostile environment policy to singing lesbian pirates, as well as panel discussions and networking.
BLACK POWER DESK will be performing live at 3.30pm, whilst LESBIAN PIRATES! is an MT Spotlight available online.
